Dual Book Launch: Giles Watson & Karen Lowry

Perth Poetry Festival 2026 · Ear to the Ground
Two distinctive new books by WA poets come together at Mattie Furphy House for an afternoon of readings, conversation and launch.
Both works are grounded in close attention: to place and the living world, to memory and the body, and to what poetry can make visible when we are willing to look closely.
Giles Watson · Eungedup: A Wetland Summer Diary
Published by Fremantle Press, Watson’s book is immersed in Eungedup between Albany and Denmark. Its diary-like poems attend to wetland biodiversity, seasonal change, environmental threat and the healing possibilities of sustained attention to place.
Karen Lowry · This Fragile Thing
Lowry’s experimental, collage-driven poetry moves through memoir, body, trauma, memory and survival, using fragmentation and juxtaposition to approach difficult experience.
Content note: This Fragile Thing includes material relating to childhood sexual abuse and trauma.
Hosted by Elio Novello.
